NORA KIRKPATRICK (NORA)
The fact that Nora Kirkpatrick shares the same name as the Nora she plays is pure coincidence. Kirkpatrick was 18 when she was offered the role of a 23 year old. Unlike Nora who had already been a successful model until her drug overdose, Kirkpatrick was just starting out.
Getting into character required Kirkpatrick to imagine herself five years older. In her limited exposure to runway shows and photo shoots, including one with Richard Avedon, Kirkpatrick saw older models burn out, several who could’ve been the Nora she was to play. To learn their stories more intimately, Kirkpatrick visited recovery programs for drug addicts.
The next step into the role of Nora for Kirkpatrick was to drive up to Monterey before the shoot. There she lived and hung out at Nora’s locations. Breathing the sea air gave Kirkpatrick a concrete sense of where Nora had come from and what she was coming home to.
Aside from “What’s Bugging Seth,” Nora grew up in the rural Midwest, and studied in Spain, England and Africa before graduating from UCLA's School of Theatre, Film and Television in 2007.
She has appeared in several films and television programs, most recently in a recurring role on HBO's "John From Cincinnati." In the past year, Nora starred in a pilot, “Katrina,” for the N Network, again with director Eli Steele. She is a series regular on a soon-to-air Web series, "Dorm Life.”
